The launch of Intersect’s Collaborative Graduate Education Program
A New Intersect Initiative
Dr. Meiyun Chang-Smith
We are very pleased to announce to the clients and collaborators of Intersect Australia the launch of the new Collaborative Graduate Education Program!
Led by Dr. Meiyun Chang-Smith, who comes to Intersect with a wealth of experience in the field, the Graduate Education Program aims to establish, coordinate and manage collaborative online graduate teaching for Australian higher degree research students and ECRs. Renowned professors, researchers, and scientists will be invited from multiple institutions on the basis of expertise to contribute voluntarily to a series of HPC and Big Data-related graduate-level courses.
The main driver is to facilitate open access to advanced online graduate education courses as a collaborative endeavour between nationally leading scientists and large national HPC facilities. The curricula aim to support graduate students working into the space between HPC and Big Data and various application domains. The array of courses may include, but are not limited to, subjects such as:
- Computational Materials Design and Discovery
- Bioinformatics
- Genomics
- AI & ML in Various Application Domains
- Climate and Weather
- Astronomy
- Earth Science
The inaugural collaborative graduate education course HPC and Data in Materials Design and Discovery is currently under preparation, to be launched later in 2021. Additionally, with the aligned goal of enhancing and facilitating eResearch, the program will also be actively seeking collaboration opportunities with other research institutions / national facilities in co-organizing research showcases such as the 1st joint Intersect and NCI Showcase AI / ML in Materials Design and Discovery in May 2021!
As always, we appreciate and look forward to your further support for Intersect‘s missions to optimise your eResearch capabilities!
