A Successful First Showcase

By Dr. Meiyun Chang-Smith

The inaugural joint NCI Australia and Intersect Australia Showcase in AI and ML in Materials Design and Discovery was held online successfully on the 13th of May, 2021 with over 200 participants spanning time zones across three continents – Australia, Europe and the USA. Four internationally renowned research pioneers provided insightful overviews of the current machine learning applications and shed light on future research directions in materials science.

The showcase served as a remarkable window into the contemporary materials science world for Australian higher degree students, ECRs and beyond. It also served as a warm-up event for the forthcoming comprehensive Graduate Education Course ‘HPC and Data in Materials Design and Discovery’ later in 2021 (precise timeline yet to be decided), which will be taught collaboratively by leading research experts in Australia. Further information on this and future exciting events, and recordings of three of the showcase presentations are now available via the Intersect website here.
