Research Data as a Service for Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN) Molecular Genetics
Sept 6th 2018
About
Molecular Genetics increasingly uses next generation genomic sequencing techniques to detect genetic anomalies at unprecedented resolution, generating massive data sets that are difficult to store, process and share. Intersect and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) Research Data as a Service (RDaaS) project massively improved turnaround time and space provides long-term storage for this data.
Outcomes
- Turnaround time reduced from 3 weeks to 2-3 hours
- Data retained in Australia, simplifying compliance with health legislation and NATA accreditation
- Time and cost saving through automation of data processing
- Improved data security through direct data transfer to and from hospital
- Bottomless storage allows guaranteed retention of all data for 5+ years
