New CEO and staff appointments at Intersect
Satish Nair has been appointed to the role of CEO. Satish has been working with Intersect as Interim CEO since December 2019 and in this short time has steered the business through a number of strategic and operational changes. His success in the role to date and previous experience as Intersect CFO from 2012 – 2018, makes him an excellent candidate for the CEO role and we are pleased to confirm his longer term appointment.
To support Satish in his new role and align the business with its focus on research technology and membership services, two new senior management roles have been created, along with two new positions in our Membership Services team.
We’re also pleased to announce the following:
Craig Hamilton has been appointed Head of Technology, covering Intersect’s Engineering and Operations divisions. Craig joined Intersect as Engineering Manager in 2016 and over this time has led Intersect’s consulting and software development business. This new role allows him to extend his talents into operations and lead the business through a significant transition in compute and storage solutions for Members.
Jonathan Arthur has been appointed Head of Membership Services, responsible for the growth and further engagement of Members through training and eResearch services. Jonathan has been with Intersect since 2017 in the role of National Services Manager and has established strong relationships with Members and an understanding of the needs of researchers across the breadth of products, services, and technologies offered by Intersect.
Ghulam Murtaza has been appointed eResearch Service Manager. Ghulam’s role will work alongside the Head of Membership Services to strengthen and grow our Membership services. He will have a particular focus on Intersect members getting the most value out of Intersect’s new Research Cloud, as well as the southern states of Victoria and South Australia. Ghulam has been with Intersect for 5 1/2 years. He is one of our longest-serving and most experienced eResearch Analysts, and we wish him well in this new position.
Anastasios Papaioannou has been appointed to the role of eResearch Training Manager. Anastasios will work alongside the Head of Membership Services to grow and innovate our training offering to Members, as well as other Australian universities, and research organisations. Anastasios joined Intersect in 2016, performing several roles during his tenure including eResearch Training Specialist, Research Data Scientist, and Lead Data Scientist. His new focus on Intersect’s training portfolio will allow him to build on his past experience and capitalise on Intersect’s recent success in establishing online training delivery.
