Full circle for CareTrack
The CareTrack system was deployed to production in June 2011 and has undergone the full cycle of data collection, analysis and was recently decommissioned.
Intersect built an offline data collection system and central database with web applications for managing data collection.
Caretrack Australia is part of an NHMRC funded program for improving the safety and appropriateness of healthcare. The project is a collaborative effort the University of South Australia and UNSW. To determine the percentage of healthcare encounters at which a sample of adult Australians received appropriate care for 22 conditions.
CareTrack Australia Project Manager Tamara Hunt says, “The healthcare system is complex; patients see many different types of providers to manage their care, appropriate care delivery varies not only with each condition but also by age, gender and timeframes, and the variability in each provider setting.
“We contracted Intersect to design a web-based tool for users to enter data accessed from medical records in hospitals, general practices, specialist facilities, physiotherapy and chiropractic practices.
“The tool provided secure data access, data encryption, offline data collection and subsequent database synchronisation (to mitigate against problems of fire-walls and poor internet connectivity in various healthcare settings). Inbuilt algorithms directed users to enter data specific to the healthcare setting, patient demographics and clinical condition.
“At all times we experienced a professional, engaging team whose ability to listen assisted in the success of the CareTrack Australia project”, Ms Hunt said.
AustLII Android app available
Intersect has just completed another mobile app, this time for the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).
AustLII for Android will enable lawyers, law students and anyone interested in the law to access legal information wherever they are. Intersect’s work builds on the iPhone/iPad app developed by AustLII and Adelaide company Hessian Apps.
The app works on both phones and tablets and is available from the Android Market now.
