Intersect’s new executive

Intersect welcomes Terry Versace as Operations & Business Development Manager, and Joe Thurbon as Member Services Manager.  Terry’s role covers two key aspects of the business: company operations and business development, including establishing a business portfolio with a broad base of research organisations.

Dr Joe Thurbon has expanded his previous role as eResearch Analyst for Southern Cross University, becoming Intersect’s Member Services Manager with responsibility for coordinating and driving services for members.

Dr Markus Buchhorn has moved into a part-time role handling Strategic Initiatives, engaging with State and Federal Government agencies on behalf of members.

Also joining Intersect are Karen El-Azzi, Casual Project Manager; Jake Farrell, Software Engineer; Qaisar Khan, Software Engineer; and Shuqian Hon, Software Engineer.

HPC LIEF grant successful

The Intersect consortium of NSW’s application, for a flexible architecture High Performance Computing facility has been successful.  Lead Chief Investigator, University of Sydney’s Prof Leo Radom says, “thank you to everyone who contributed to this success”.

The $500,000 grant, along with organisational contributions, presents an opportunity to evolve NSW’s large scale infrastructure and design a balanced infrastructure which will include large scale data storage.
