In a move to strengthen its data capability, the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW (DECCW) has become an Affiliate Member of Intersect. DECCW Manager, Spatial Data Programs, Malcolm Stephens says, “Our membership of Intersect will also bring increased collaborative opportunities for data and research projects with the broader University research community”, says Mr Stephens.

DECCW has already embarked on its first project with Intersect to secure and improve its data management capability for the NSW Natural Resource Monitoring Evaluating and Reporting (MER) program.

“This represents Intersect’s move into supporting the State government sector directly, and with one of the most important State government science agencies”, says Intersect CEO, Dr Ian Gibson. “By ensuring that their data is managed and shared well, Intersect is supporting DECCW’s central role in monitoring the natural environment in NSW”.
